The sun is the closest star to Earth and it's gravitational pull is what keeps our earth and other planets in orbit.  Here’s a fun object lesson on the importance of staying close to Jesus.  Get your parent’s assistance and do it outdoors on soft ground.

Take a small lightweight object like a balloon with a few tablespoons of water in it.  Tie it to a string and turn yourself in a circle holding the string of the balloon (not too many times—you may get dizzy and fall).  You represent the sun, the string is the sun’s gravitational pull and the balloon is any planet in the solar system.  After turning a few times, let go of the string and watch the balloon fly off.  Explain to observers that if a planet were to somehow disconnect itself from the sun’s gravitational pull, it would fly off into space (and cause a lot of damage).  If we disconnect ourselves from the Word of God, it’s the same way.  We fly off in the wrong direction and can cause damage to ourselves and others.

Now that’s a Stellar Message!

Have a blessed month!  Dr. Rex
